MÜHLE's journey began when Otto Johannes Müller founded the business after returning from the war. He made the first shaving brushes and designed the MÜHLE signet. In 1965, Hans-Jürgen Müller took over the company, which had grown to 40 employees, and MÜHLE was exporting its products to 36 countries. However, in 1972, under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, Hans-Jürgen Müller sold the company, and MÜHLE became a state-owned enterprise. In 1987, the business was rebranded and manufactured brushes only for the state, with Hans-Jürgen Müller becoming a self-employed brush maker.

In 1990, a new Europe evolved, and Hans-Jürgen Müller regained the family business, trading as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, with the MÜHLE signet remaining. Despite struggling to survive after reunification, the company gradually won new customers and rehired former employees. By 2006, MÜHLE's offering had expanded to a full range of wet shaving goods, and the brand came to the fore.

In 2021, MÜHLE launched the first safety razor with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender. This safety razor provides a peerless quality and longevity, offering a close and comfortable wet shave. It features a closed comb design, which prevents build-up and provides the closest possible shave.
